Grief Galaxy · Your family’s week
Week 1 · Together time
A few minutes is enough to try. Your child chooses what to share.
“Would you like to talk for a few minutes, draw, or do this another time?”
Ask what the fishing game got right about grief — and whether it got anything wrong.
They can talk, draw, show you something, or pass. A character’s story is enough.
Let your child finish. Reflect one thing you heard: “It sounds like…”
Their words can stay between you. You do not need to record them below.
“Would you like me to listen, sit with you, or help you do something else?”
You can finish here. Record a conversation below only if it happened.
“You can talk to me about your person, even if your feelings are different from mine.” Let that be enough.
No timer, and no need to ask another question.
Sit together quietly, do something else, or choose a different time. This does not record a conversation.
This week the game taught that grief isn't one feeling — it shows up in lots of ways, and every one of them is normal.
